NFL AFC Football Preview 2008 21 August 2008

Let’s start by Division. I will list them on how I predict they will do this season within their division. At the end I will list my predictions on most games won.

AFC North

Pittsburgh Steelers: Oh I love the Steelers this year. Ben Roethlisberger is one of the best Quarterbacks ever. They ended up losing Faneca one the best Offensive lineman to ever play the game. But having said that I think his new replacement will do just fine. A little young but strong and willing to play. They also had to sideline Casey Hampton who came to training camp too fat to play. They had to PUP him because he was so large they thought he would die if he had to play a game. No shit. The camp says he’s working on losing the weight so he can be a starter again, but I’m not sure if Coach Tomlin doesn’t see that as a slap to the face. We will see. The Steelers will be the team to beat this season in the AFC North if not the AFC entirely. Ben has seemed to mature and seems to love his new offensive plan, which includes more throwing and more input from Big Ben himself. They will be worth every penny and the drive to see them play.

Cincinnati Bengals: Now this team looks good. Yes, they have had all the Chad Johnson issues and drama, but I think their Coach has finally pulled them together. I think he was too worried about his team liking him that he let them coach themselves. Which in turn gave us the stupid and disrespectful tantrums of Chad Johnson. I know Ocho Cinco (85) is a great player, and there is no doubt about it. But he is nothing without his team and a QB that can trust him and want him on his team. Never the less, I think with the new coaching agenda they will be contender to the throne of the AFC North.

Cleveland Browns: The word on the street is that they will give the Steelers a run for their money in the division. After watching them play the Giant’s in pre-season and Anderson getting a concussion, I think it is safe to say no way. Absolutely not can they be contenders to clinch the division. Last season they had only 10 wins. That is a winning season but it doesn’t make you a winner. I like their coach, but I just don’t think they have the talent to back up the claim.

Baltimore Ravens: Since Ray Lewis left is there any reason why anyone would even care about the Ravens? I don’t expect much from them at all. Maybe 6-10 this year, maybe. They need to re-build and they need help to do it. There doesn’t seem to be a game plan for them. It’s like they are just playing on autopilot and no one is willing to lead. Things are changing for this team, I am just not sure it is for the better.

AFC South

Indianapolis Colts: Of course they are the top on my list for the AFC South. When there is a Manning, there is a way. I like the Colts this year. Dwight Freeney is back and healthy so the defense is strong. Harrison is looking good. They are deep in the running back position and I like that option for Peyton. I haven’t seen Peyton play since his surgery, but I hear everything is wonderful. If they can stay healthy, we will be seeing them along with the Steelers in the Playoffs. Because after all a healthy Colt is a winning Colt.

Tennessee Titans: What can I say? They are almost exactly the same as they were last year. They paid too much for Vince Young who is at best an average QB. They say this year they are focusing on him staying in the pocket and working on his QB skills. Really? I thought all that money they spent meant he had the skills to begin with? There is one good thing happening for them. His name is White. He’s their new Running Back and he is going to be the one to watch. They Titans will suck under Young as always but this White will be amazing.

Jacksonville Jaguars: This team is having Wide Receiver issues. They also have players being charged with Cocaine and other drug charges. This team is a mess. There is no real go to guys on the team to make the plays. I can’t really see any light of hope for them. Sorry.

Houston Texans: They have been plagues with injuries this season but having said that they have won both of their pre season games. I’m not sure that really means anything since they played the Saints and the Broncos. I put them on the bottom of the AFC South because I think they will be better than last year, but that still isn't very good. And yes, I think the Jaguars are in shambles, but I still think the Texans will do worse.

AFC East

New England Patriots: What can I say?? They're a well-oiled machine. The Giants were able to find a weakness in the defense and were able to win the Superbowl, so Belichick goes out and gets John Lynch from the Broncos. If you don’t know who he is he's one incredible older crazy defensive back that can flatten you and make you forget your name. I give it to them they are driven to perfection, but I think their down fall is that they have lost the love of the game. At least when everything is based on winning and losing. I think the questions that are on everyone’s minds are

Which Records are they going to break this year?

Is Randy Moss still the man to beat?

Can they go undefeated and win the Superbowl?

Is Brady’s foot really ready? Is it just a ploy?

Whatever is going to happen is going to happen all I know is they will make it to the AFC Championship and I wouldn’t be surprised if they make it to the Superbowl again? I just don’t think they are going to be undefeated.

New York Jets: I am one of the biggest Favre fans ever. I really am. I do believe you can teach an old dog new tricks too. I think the Jets issues are the players. Some of them have come out and said they didn’t want Brett they were angry about how much of a deal everyone was making and other things that I just don’t care to write about. The gist is this: You can’t lead a team if they don’t want you to lead them. I think the fans are behind him and so is the coaches. I think the players need to grow up and remember they play football for an owner and if that owner wants you to play ball with a fucking monkey then you smile and say he is the best monkey ever and you play with him. No matter what Brett will do his thing and he will amaze all those NY fans and they will love him. By the end of the year the players will love him too. It will just be too late.

Buffalo Bills: I am placing them 3rd on the list for this division. They finished last year with a 7-9 record. Towards they end of the year they were looking good. Unfortunately I am not predicting much better for them this year. There doesn’t seem to be any one player willing to lead this team. This seems to be an epidemic; I don’t know what is happening in the NFL. They will have a 10-6 year, and that is a start. Maybe the running back Lynch will have a personal best year for running yards, but if he wants to be really recognized he needs to go to the Bears or some other heavy run offense

Miami Dolphins: Chad Pennington is now their QB. I have always loved Chad. I thought he was a gifted QB on a bad team. I am not sure his new positioned has changed for the better. He is going to be working with Bill Parcells, the miracle worker so you never know. I think the road for Miami is going to be long and hard but with Parcells at the helm the ship will get back on it’s proper heading. It will take more than this year but I think maybe they will be 4-12 and that is better than last year.

AFC WEST

San Diego Chargers: So it’s Norv Turners 2nd year at coaching this team. Last year we were seeing what was left of the old coaches game plans. This year we will see what he brings to the table. Last year we saw Rivers and Tomlinson fighting on the sidelines and repeatedly arguing on and off the field. If this is how Coach Turner keeps his players in line we have trouble in Sand Diego. I kept them on the top of their division because they have so much talent. I just don’t think any coach could severely hurt this team in one full season. Rivers is a great QB, the players trust him and although they may have disagreements they as men came together and discussed their issues without being told to. They are known to have a slow start but the will clinch their division and will easily go to the playoffs.

Oakland Raiders: One of my dearest friends is a Raiders fan and I just don’t get it. They have Jamaruis Russell as their new QB and as much as I dislike them I think they look good this year. Michael Huff their Strong Safety on the defense will make it to the Pro Bowl easily. De Angelo Hall with his hand now healed will make a huge addition to their defense as well. I see them in the playoffs as a wild card but no further than that. Their kicker Janikowski is on Injured Reserve and it made me stop and think? How is a kicker on IR? Does he have an ingrown toenail or something? Seriously.

Denver Broncos: Jay Cutler is a pussy. There I said it. He whines, and moans and groans and complains. John Lynch left them to go to New England, it seems like anyone with any real talent is abandoning ship. Who care about the Broncos? I wish I had some good news here. But I don’t. Their defense is banged up and this is preseason. Their probowler Tom Nalen is going back into surgery. They haven’t found a punter worth a shit. I mean the only light of hope for them is Brandon Marshall their Wide Receiver. His nickname is baby T.O. I just hope it’s for his play not his drama. Last year they were my sleeper team. I really thought they were going to make a run for it. Man was I let down.

Kansas City Chiefs: I like Herm Edwards their coach. I just don’t think he has any talent (that isn’t injured) on his team. I see nothing good coming their way. I wish I did. I like the Chiefs. I like the franchise, but this team is also in a rebuilding stage. They have to figure out what kind of football team they want to be. I think we will see a lot of erratic play this year from them, one week they will lose by 30 the next they will lose by 3. I think we won’t know which team we are going to see from week to week. I hope they can figure it out relatively quickly so they can end up with some kind of winning record at the end of the year.

Men’s Tennis

Rafael Nadal won his gold medal. He beat Fernando Gonzales in straight sets in Beijing. Gonzales was the man that American Player James Blake had issue with. The was a rally in which James hit a forehand that bounced off Gonzales; racket but the umpire didn’t see it and Gonzales didn’t call on himself so James lost the point which he ended up losing the match. James Blake had some not very nice things to say about his opponent after the match and as far as I know there is still bad blood. Roger Federer The number 2 player in the world won the Men’s Doubles Gold medal with fellow Swiss Wawricka. It was nice to see Roger happy and confident. I haven’t seen him like that in a long time.

Women’s Tennis

Dinara Safina took the Silver Medal after losing to fellow Russian Elena Dementieva. It was a long hard match going to three sets. Safina Cried afterwards but I couldn’t help but think I would love to win a silver medal, shit give me a bronze. That is fine too. The wonderful and beautiful Williams sisters won the Double Gold for the 2nd time. They smashed their opponents in straight sets. I love watching them demolish other players. Such power and grace. Love those girls.

Women I wish Were Lesbians

My Lesbian wish of the week is Logan Tom. She is a Volleyball player for the USA team. She is tall and beautiful. I first saw her 8 years ago at the Athens or Sydney Olympics. She had short hair back then and kind of resembled a young Angelina Jolie. I am not kidding. This girl is smoking hot. She’s 6’1" and big eyes, long legs and great lips. She’s aggressive on the court and one of the best USA female players around. www.logantom.info if you want to see her.

Joke of the week

One day two blondes walk into a perfume shop. The one blonde picks up a bottle of perfume that is titled "Viens Chez Moi." The blonde asks the manager what it means, and the manager says it means, "Come to Me." So the blonde smells the perfume and asks her friend, "Does this smell like come to you? Because it doesn't smell like come to m

Life

DC. I have been there once before and this time I had an opportunity to go and see a tennis match at the Legg Mason Venue. So of course I jump at the opportunity. Going to DC is always a humbling experience for me. The founders of our country; these great men created a country that allows me to be me and not only free but an equal. My opinion is as valid as anyone else’s and I have the right to express it, because of these great men and women that fought for my right to be free and equal.

The buildings are massive and overwhelming but majestic and make the powerful statement they were made to make. We are a great country and we are free people.

I had great food, great sex, and great drinks. I have a ton of pictures to develop, because I took both cameras a digital and a SLR, which is my favorite to use. I can’t wait to go back again, but this time for a week, not just a couple of days.

I am now looking into going to Long fork for a nice camping trip. I want to go to an all lesbian and gay campsite. Sound like too much fun for me. Maybe some of you can come and we can have a party. I will let you know the date when I get more settled. It will be sometime next month.

Next week I will have the NFC and my predictions.

That is all for me this week. Please feel free to email with questions or anything. I would be more than happy to answer them in my column or in a personal email, whichever you choose. Just make sure you tell me which one you prefer. If you have any music or movie suggestions, please email me. I am always on the hunt for good art. My email is faithflkris@aol.com, and please in the subject line out lesbian lair so I know you are not trying to sell me Viagra or a penis pump. But if you are trying to sell those to me, here’s a heads up…I’m a lesbian. I like my dicks plastic and without a man attached to it so neither one of those would help me, but thanks for looking out.
